City of Green Bay Liquor License Available for Application

The City of Green Bay announces that a Class B liquor license will be available for application following City Council action to release the license back to the available pool.


Application Process

Once the license is officially released, the City Clerk's Office will accept complete applications Wednesday, July 16th at 7:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis with a completed application. The Clerk will assign numbers to applicants and accept the first complete application received.


Fees and Timeline

Application Fees:

  • $50 due at application submission
  • Remaining $550 due when license is ready for issuance (This applies to those choosing a Class B liquor and Class B beer combination. Applicants may already have a Class B beer license and only need the liquor license.)
  • Total license fee: $600


Processing Time:
2 to 3 weeks from submission.


Provisional License:
Available for $15 while regular application is processed (up to 60 days).

Required Documentation:

  • Original Alcohol Beverage Retail License Application
  • Auxiliary questionnaires for all applicable individuals
  • Driver's license copy for each individual who completes the auxiliary questionnaire
  • Appointment of Agent form
  • Responsible beverage server training certification
  • Wisconsin Seller's Permit
  • Statement of Intent
  • Business security plan completed
  • Floor plan
  • Proof of premises


About Class B Licenses

A Class B liquor license authorizes retail sale of intoxicating liquor by the glass for on-premises consumption (restaurants/bars) and wine sales in original containers for off-premises consumption. There is a quota system for Class B liquor licenses, while Class B beer licenses are unlimited.
