Gov. Whitmer Announces 102 New Jobs Coming to Chesterfield Township by South Korean Automotive Components Manufacturer Hansae Mobility

Hansae Mobility USA Manufacturing, LLC plans to expand its Michigan operations with a larger facility in Macomb County, bringing supply chain home

LANSING, Mich. - During Governor Whitmer's visit to South Korea as part of her East Asia investment mission, she announced today that Hansae Mobility USA Manufacturing, LLC, a U.S. subsidiary of South Korean automotive components manufacturer Hansae Mobility Co., Ltd., is creating 102 new jobs and investing over $93.2 million to expand its operations in Chesterfield Township (Macomb County).

Hansae Mobility specializes in driveline systems and other vehicle components, with operations serving major global automotive manufacturers. The larger, 400,000 square-foot manufacturing facility will support the company's continued growth in the state, supporting Michigan's leadership in the automotive manufacturing industry and bringing the supply chain home.

"Today's announcement will create 102 new good-paying jobs and help cement Michigan as the best place to chase the next big idea. "We are pleased to become part of the Chesterfield Township community and to expand Hansae Mobility's manufacturing presence in Michigan," said Roy (Taein) Kim, President of Hansae Mobility USA Manufacturing LLC. "Building on nearly a decade of operations in the United States, this investment represents an important next step in our growth. By bringing expanded assembly and machining capabilities together, we will strengthen our ability to serve customers while creating meaningful career opportunities and building a long-term partnership with the region."

The project is being supported by a $625,000 Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and will generate a total anticipated capital investment of $93,214,535. In addition to MSF support, Michigan Works! Has provided a workforce development proposal valued at $702,413, with $582,000 estimated from the Going Pro Talent Fund to support the project.

This expansion will accommodate Hansae Mobility's growing final assembly activities and integrate machining processes under one roof, allowing the company to reduce transportation costs, improve supply chain responsiveness and efficiency, and insource manufacturing activities that are currently performed by suppliers in Korea.
