The National Weather Service (NWS) has designated the week of May 4-10, 2025, as Hurricane Preparedness Week. In response, the Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is urging all residents to take proactive steps now to prepare for the Atlantic hurricane season, which begins on June 1, 2025.
"This year's forecast suggests we could be facing a very active hurricane season," said Camden County Emergency Management Director Chuck White. "Preparedness isn't just a box to check-it's a mindset. Every household in Camden County should have a plan, gather supplies, and stay informed well before any storms are on the horizon."
According to the latest outlook from Colorado State University's Tropical Weather & Climate Research team, the Atlantic basin could see up to 17 named storms, including 9 hurricanes, suggesting above-normal activity.
