Columbus, Ohio - Republicans have officially blown past their first deadline in Ohio's redistricting process. Instead of following the process Ohio voters overwhelmingly approved to create a fair, constitutional map, Republicans are determined to run out the clock to once again cheat Ohio voters.
"After the first round of sham redistricting hearings conducted by Republicans who made it clear their presence was only because it was legally required, there's no surprise this first deadline passed without even a proposed map from the majority party," said Ohio Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Clyde. "Ohioans deserve transparency and a commitment to draw a fair, constitutional map. Democrats have already stepped up and introduced a map that actually reflects how our state votes. We're calling on Republicans to work with us to get this done for Ohioans."
The Joint Committee on Congressional Redistricting was supposed to pass a bipartisan map by September 30th, 2025, and has officially failed to meet that deadline. Now, the process moves to the Ohio Redistricting Commission, which has until October 30th to pass bipartisan maps.
