MoWest to remember 9/11 with memorial stair climb

Sept. 8, 2025-The Center for Military and Veterans Services at Missouri Western State University will host the fourth annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Spratt Memorial Stadium.

Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at the west gate entrance to Spratt Stadium. The climb begins promptly at 8:46 a.m., the time the first tower was struck.

Participants will climb the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs, the same number found in the World Trade Center, in honor of the nearly 3,000 lives lost including the brave first responders who ran toward danger to save others.

The purpose of this event is to remember the heroic efforts of first responders, to pay tribute to the lives lost, to educate new generations and to never forget.

Those who cannot climb are encouraged to come to show support, helping keep the memory alive.

The event is free. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome.
