North Attleboro, Mass. - The Adelphi women's tennis team capped off a successful fall schedule on Saturday, knocking off Assumption to maintain a perfect 6-0 record heading into its seasonal break.
and shone for the Panthers, and on Tuesday they were named the Northeast-10's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. This is the third award of the season for Liedbeck and the second for Solevag Halvorsen.
Liedbeck went 4-0 this past week in both doubles and singles play, winning her doubles matches 6-3 and 6-3 alongside . As Adelphi's No. 1 singles player, the senior dominated at Bentley in a 6-0, 6-1 win before beating Dana Trinerova of Assumption 6-1, 7(7)-6(2) at home.
Solevag Halvorsen also posted a pristine 4-0 record, winning both of her doubles matches 6-1 and 6-4 with . Competing at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, she earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at Bentley and followed it up with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Assumption.
So far in conference play, Liedbeck is 6-0 in both singles and doubles, while Solevag Halvorsen holds a 5-1 singles record and a 5-0 doubles mark.
The Adelphi women's tennis team will now head into its seasonal break and return to the court on Saturday, February 21, for a match against Saint Michael's.
