MARYSVILLE - Caltrans is alerting motorists of utility work on State Route 70 (SR 70/B Street) in Marysville starting next week. California Water Service (CalWater) and its contractor will begin relocating water utilities along SR 70 starting Monday.

Work will take place on B Street between 18th Street and 24th Street, beginning near Marysville High School and progressing south. This work is scheduled to last four weeks. All construction will remain on the shoulders, outside of travel lanes, and no traffic impacts are expected.

This utility relocation supports the $178.6 million SR 70 Binney Junction Roadway and Complete Streets Project, which will improve SR 70/B Street from 14th Street to Cemetery Road with two-way left-turn lanes, 8-foot shoulders, 6-foot sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, levee improvements, and replacement of the Marysville and Binney Junction railroad underpasses to meet modern safety and vertical clearance standards for big rigs. The project will enhance safety, mobility, and multimodal connectivity for residents, students, businesses, and emergency responders.

The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.

Caltrans issues construction and road condition updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic information, click on Caltrans' QuickMap quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
