Current Status and Future Vision of e-Frail Navi
Current Status and Future Vision of e-Frail Navi
Anticipating changes in the environment surrounding the energy business, our Group is accelerating making progress to expand our business domain beyond energy and to reform our business model.
The first page of the document is part of the Chubu Electric Power Group Management Vision 2.0 announced in November 2021, and shows our Group's efforts toward 2030.
Combining three domains, including the application and platform domains, as well as other fields such as lifestyle-related businesses, we aim to provide solutions that meet the diverse needs of local communities and customers and create new value.
As an example of our efforts to create new value, in April last year we began offering "e-Frail Navi," the first frailty detection service for local governments in Japan that utilizes electricity data from electric power smart meters.
Frail, or frailty, is a condition in which there is a decline in physical and cognitive functions that lies between the states of good health and needing nursing care. It is said that an appropriate care for people in a frail condition reduce the progression to a state needing nursing care and restore them to a healthy state.
The e-Frail Navi system uses electricity smart meters to measure the amount of electricity used every 30 minutes, analyzes it using proprietary AI to detect frailty, and notifies local governments and other relevant parties of the results.
We believe that this service will help solve social issues such as "extending healthy life expectancy" and ultimately "reducing medical and nursing costs" by preventing and improving the situation appropriately through efficient and early detection of people at risk of needing nursing care and advice on daily living from the local government.
Thirteen local governments, including Toin-cho in Mie Prefecture and Matsumoto-shi in Nagano Prefecture, have already adopted the service, and we are aiming to have 50 local governments adopt the service in the next fiscal year.
In October of this year, we, Chubu Electric Power, entered into a capital and business alliance with Total Future Healthcare, Inc. in order to deliver new value to local communities and customers by evolving the knowledge and technology we have gained through our frailty detection.
Total Future Healthcare utilizes domestic and international technologies such as fall detection by sensors, vital signs measurement by facial images, and disease detection by voice waveform to implement a model in society for early detection of sudden changes such as falls and disease risks.
As a specific initiative for the future, we will promote joint development to expand the range of diseases to be detected to include not only frailty, but also dementia, depression and lifestyle diseases, by combining our electricity data analysis technology with Total Future Healthcare's advanced and sophisticated sensing technology.
Through these developments, we will also work with Total Future Healthcare to develop a solution that can monitor changes in the life cycle of various conditions, from pre-diagnosis to serious illness and the need for nursing care, and will conduct demonstrations with local governments that have adopted our e-Frail Navi system.
We intend to develop and demonstrate such solutions to establish a system that can connect people to necessary medical care and personalized effective services in a timely and appropriate manner, without overlooking the signs that are often ignored in their daily lives.
We will continue to work with a variety of partners to maximize the value we provide to local communities and customers in order to realize our future vision.
