Made in Pennsylvania: Netflix Hits the Road With ‘Tires,’ MLB Home Run Derby and Netflix House Philadelphia

Netflix keeps popping up in Pennsylvania this summer.

Tires , co-created, starring, and written by Shane Gillis, takes place at the fictional Valley Forge Automotive Center and has filmed all three seasons in the state. On Season 3, which debuted at #3 on the US Top 10 English TV list with 2M views , the workplace comedy worked with over 250 vendors and businesses and filmed in six cities and towns across the state, including West Chester, Philadelphia, Phoenixville, Oaks, Frazer, and Glenside.

In addition to filming at real-life tire and auto shops like Fitzgerald's Tire & Auto Service in Glenside and Caliber Collision in West Chester, Season 3 also used EVs and solar-powered trailers on set. Other filming locations included Arnold's Family Fun Center, a family entertainment center in Oaks; Barnaby's, a local tavern in West Chester; 9 Prime, a West Chester restaurant; and WPHL-TV (aka PHL17), the local CW broadcast network affiliate in Philadelphia.

And there's plenty of other places to catch Gillis on Netflix. The Pennsylvania native signed a creative partnership with Netflix earlier this year to develop new shows and movies and film two new stand-up specials following the success of Tires (more than 40M views across Seasons 1 and 2) and his 2023 Netflix stand-up special Beautiful Dogs ( 30M views ). Gillis has also appeared as a guest on our comedy specials like Kill Tony: Kill or Be Killed, the host of The Roast of Kevin Hart , as well as at live events like NFL Christmas Gameday and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby , which took place in nearby Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

To celebrate our inaugural broadcast of the Derby on July 13, we showed up in full force in Philly, taking over trolleys in Philadelphia and transforming the outside main gate at Citizens Bank Park into a Netflix Sports Club, offering refreshments and a Field of Dreams photo op in the days leading up to the big event. (The Philadelphia Phillies played the Minnesota Twins in the August 13 Field of Dreams game , which is also now streaming on Netflix.)

We also deployed the Home Run Derby Chain Truck Tour to Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square and Dilworth Park, as well as Boston, Cooperstown and New York City's Union Square & MLB Plaza, to hand out custom Netflix baseball helmet ice cream cups and Derby chain shirts.

Back in Valley Forge, we've also been busy this summer at Netflix House Philadelphia . Located at King of Prussia mall and employing nearly 300 locals , Netflix House is our permanent, year-round fan destination where you can explore, taste, play and shop your favorite shows and movies IRL. In the lead-up to the Home Run Derby, we worked with renowned baseball bat designer Victus, also located in King of Prussia, to create custom Netflix House bats to be displayed in July. This included one that was signed during the week of baseball festivities by Philadelphia Phillies legends Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins.

We also recently hosted The Hawk stars Will Ferrell, Luke Wilson, and Jimmy Tatro for a round of mini golf, autograph signings, interviews and an advanced screening at the TUDUM Theater, where fans enjoyed the first episode and snagged free branded visors adorned with The Hawk's signature curls.

In July, Netflix House Philadelphia also opened Stranger Things: The Immersive Experience, where you can discover your powers, explore the Upside Down, join forces with your favorite characters to fight Vecna and save Hawkins.

For our littlest fans, we hosted a Long Live Imagination activation at the end of June. The multi-day experience turned Netflix House into an imaginative play space, encouraging families to get moving and connect. Guests also got to enjoy meet-and-greets with their favorite Netflix characters like CoComelon Lane 's JJ as well as arts and crafts events while learning more about our Playground hub for kids and families .

Stay tuned for more exciting updates from Netflix House Philadelphia here .

All three seasons of Tires are now streaming - only on Netflix.
