USAG Ansbach employees awarded, Professional of the Year announced

ANSBACH, Germany - The Garrison Commander of U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach gathered the workforce Dec. 12 for the annual Commander's Call and awards ceremony, recognizing the Soldiers, civilians and host-nation employees whose efforts keep the garrison mission-ready.

Col. Aaron Southard hosted his annual Commander's Call and all hands employee recognition ceremony at the Sadowski Theater on Bismarck Kaserne.

"This has been a hard year," Southard said in remarks delivered to the workforce. "It has been a year of 'firsts' and 'I've never seen that before.' We started with a hiring freeze, worked through manpower reductions and organizational restructuring and endured a 43-day government shutdown, but kept working and getting things done."

Despite the challenges employees faced, they racked up a number of accomplishments, outcomes and milestones.

Collectively, garrison employees modernized roads, facilities, and energy and water systems. They migrated our networks and secured our systems. They invested in our people through education, training and community events. They strengthened safety, emergency preparedness and spiritual resilience. On top of that they earned top-tier inspection results and theater-level awards.
