Arrest Made in Santana Lucero Homicide

ARREST MADE IN SANTANA LUCERO HOMICIDE

On November 9, 2025 at approximately 1:05 a.m., Pueblo police officers responded to the 2500 block of Lakeshore Drive on reports of a dead body. When officers arrived, they located a deceased male. The victim was identified as 31-year-old Santana Lucero. The death was ruled a homicide, and investigators with the Crimes Against Persons Section were called out to investigate.

On December 4, 2025, an arrest warrant was issued for 25-year-old Santana Montoya for the crime of 1st Degree Murder for his involvement in the death of Lucero. Montoya was arrested and booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center. His bond was set at $1,000,000, cash only.

Currently, only limited information regarding this case is being released as this is still an active investigation. The Pueblo Police Department expects there will be additional arrests in the future related to this incident. The Pueblo Police Department would also like to remind anyone who may be involved about the law of complicity: A person is legally accountable as principle for the behavior of another constituting a criminal offense if, with the intent to promote or facilitate the commission of the offense, he or she aids, abets, advises, or encourages the other person in planning or committing the offense. (Colorado Revised Statute 18-1-603). For example, you can be convicted of 1st Degree Murder, even though you did not pull the trigger, if you are found to be in violation of this law.
