Southfield Businesses Invest Nearly $52 Million in Corporate and Residential Redevelopment

Several major companies are deepening their investment in Southfield through significant facility improvements, relocations, and adaptive reuse projects that reflect confidence in the city's strong business climate and redevelopment opportunities. Together, these projects represent nearly $52 million in private investment and underscore Southfield's position as a regional hub for business growth and innovation.

Piston Group LLC & Piston Automotive LLC

Piston Group, the 24th largest automotive supplier in the U.S., is reaffirming its commitment to Southfield through an $800,000 reinvestment in its corporate headquarters. The improvements will enhance technology infrastructure, expand office capacity, and modernize the workspace for greater efficiency and collaboration.

In addition, Piston Automotive LLC is consolidating and expanding its headquarters at 2000 Town Center, bringing 170 jobs to Southfield and investing $1 million in upgrades that will further strengthen its role as a global leader in automotive systems manufacturing. Both projects are located in the Southfield City

Centre, an established Principal Shopping District and one of the city's most active business and retail districts.

Angstrom NA LLC

Global automotive and industrial supplier Angstrom NA LLC has chosen to expand its worldwide headquarters in Southfield with the purchase and redevelopment of 25300-25330 Telegraph Road, within the Southfield Technology Corridor Subarea. The company will invest $4.15 million to consolidate operations into the facility, relocating 55 employees from outside the city and 20 within. Angstrom also plans to lease additional space and explore outlot development, further activating the site and contributing to the city's commercial landscape.

West 11 Management

West 11 Management is undertaking a $46 million residential conversion project that will transform two of the former Blue Cross Blue Shield towers (within the City's SmartZone district) into a vibrant mixed-use development featuring 305 apartments and extensive amenities including coworking space, fitness facilities, event rooms, and outdoor recreation areas. The redevelopment, located within the Southfield SmartZone Subarea, will transform more than 450,000 square feet of vacant office space into a thriving live/work environment, bringing new energy to one of Southfield's most visible corridors.

A City of Growth and Opportunity

"These projects are a clear reflection of Southfield's strong partnerships with the business community," said Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver. "We've worked diligently to create an environment that supports innovation, investment, and redevelopment, and it's rewarding to see those efforts pay off. Every new project, from corporate expansions to residential reinvestment, adds vitality to our city and benefits residents, businesses, and future generations."

These projects reflect Southfield's ongoing evolution as a premier destination for business and investment in metro Detroit. From manufacturing and technology to housing and mixed-use redevelopment, the city continues to attract companies that see long-term value in Southfield's location, talent base, and pro-growth environment.
