UPDATE: Additional Information About December Homicide of Jamal Rodgers at Johnson Creek

The investigation into the homicide death of Jamal Rodgers is continuing. Detectives are now releasing that he was recovered from Johnson Creek near Southeast 102nd Avenue and Southeast Foster Road in the Lents Neighborhood.

The medical examiner determined his cause of death was gunshot.

Deceased Man Found in Johnson Creek; Homicide Investigation Underway
A deceased man was located submerged in Johnson Creek this week, and the death investigation has revealed this is a homicide. An investigation is underway.
On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a body submerged in Johnson Creek. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded and recovered the body.
The medical examiner confirmed the identity of the man is Jamal Rodgers, 32, and determined he died by homicide. His family has been notified of his death and requests privacy at this time.
The Portland Police Homicide Unit is investigating this homicide. No arrests have been made. If anyone has information about this case, contact investigators by emailing [email protected]or calling 503-823-0479. Please reference case number 25-354714.
This was the 51st homicide of 2025 in Portland.
