Denver International Airport Announces Newest Rotating Exhibition Denver is My Home: Denver’s Historic Chinatown, Japantown, and Little Saigon, on view now

DENVER - January 15, 2025 - Denver International Airport (DEN) today announced its newest temporary art exhibition, Denver is My Home: Denver's Historic Chinatown, Japantown, and Little Saigon, on view through May 2025. Denver is My Home is an exploration of three specific Asian American communities that first came to settle in Denver, how their histories and cultures have sustained over time and how their contributions to Colorado continue to be honored and have impact.

Through Denver is My Home, passengers can learn about how and why these communities came to thrive in Denver, the cultural heritages they celebrate and the legacy and imprint they've left. These stories, accompanied by priceless objects, interviews and photographic memories, illuminate hidden narratives, including the history of the first Chinese and Japanese miners, railroad workers and farmers in Colorado. The exhibition also touches on immigrant stories that center on the challenges of building community in the face of extreme adversity including historical events like the Chinese Exclusion Act, Vietnamese refugees fleeing violence in their home country and re-settlement following the forced incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War 2.

Denver is My Home is curated for DEN by Courtney Ozaki-Durgin, founder of the Japanese Arts Network, and is made possible by the contributions of many community members. The exhibition is presented by the Japanese Arts Network, Colorado Asian Pacific United, Denver's Far East Center and Truong An Gifts. Denver is My Home is located on the mezzanine level of Concourse C (level 3).
