Arkansas Democrats Release Statement from Party Chair and Retired Army Colonel Marcus Jones on Trump’s Plan to Rename the “Department of Defense” the “Department of War”

LITTLE ROCK- Arkansas Democrats Chair and Retired Army Colonel Marcus Jones has released the following statement on Trump's plan to rename the Department of Defense.

Arkansas Democrats Chair & Ret. Army Col. Marcus Jones said:

"As someone who spent three decades in uniform, I can't emphasize this enough - renaming the 'Department of Defense' to the 'Department of War' is a waste of time. This doesn't make America more secure, or better prepared. And it's just plain stupid.

The Trump administration's ignorance about all the Department of Defense's missions - from security cooperation to partnership training to disaster relief at home - could not be more clear. This is a pointless action, and our men and women in uniform deserve so much better from the Commander-in-Chief.

Known-draft-dodger Donald Trump is desperate to appear 'tough' and to distract from his failure to deliver on any of his promises to the American people.

There must be something really damning in the Epstein files given that Trump is so desperate to get us to talk about anything else. And in case you weren't sure, it's clear that Trump will never meaningfully lower costs for American families; in fact, he's planning to spend our tax dollars to reproduce countless DoD materials for this pointless publicity stunt."
