Georgia DOT awards 21 construction contracts for statewide transportation projects
ATLANTA- In November 2024, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded contracts for 21 Design-Bid-Build projects, covering safety initiatives, construction, rehabilitation, and resurfacing.
The largest investment, approximately $8 million, is a construction project involving 0.014 miles of bridge construction and approaches on US 29/SR 14 (Lee Street) over the Westside Beltline Trail in Fulton County. This project, along with one additional construction project, represents 23% of the overall funds awarded.
Approximately $36 million of the total awarded funds is allocated to 12 resurfacing projects. The largest of these involves 4.129 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on I-24/SR 409 from the Tennessee state line (MP 0.00) to the Tennessee state line (MP 4.12) in Dade County. The second-largest resurfacing project, valued at approximately $5.5 million, consists of 7.130 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on SR 10 from east of the Walton County line to Atlanta Highway in Clarke and Oconee counties. These two projects, along with ten others, account for 66% of the awarded funds.
Five safety projects received a total allocation of $1.4 million. The largest of these involves intersection improvements for an additional eastbound on-ramp lane on Ashford-Dunwoody Road at I-285/SR 407 in DeKalb County. This project, along with four others, accounts for 5% of the awarded funds.
Approximately $2 million, or 4% of the total awards, is designated for a single rehabilitation project. This project includes 8.680 miles of milling and shoulder rehabilitation on SR 182 from SR 11 to SR 107 in Bibb and Hill counties.
