For the past six years, Ellison has been on the frontlines as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Las Cruces, where he played a leading role in dismantling the Syndicato de Nuevo Mexico (SNM) prison gang - the largest criminal prosecution in state history, with over 175 members and associates charged. In addition, he has prosecuted RICO conspiracies, VICAR murders, murder-for-hire plots, kidnapping resulting in death, and national security offenses - all with a tireless dedication to justice and community safety.
