The drama-comedy play tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister's refuge. This dramatic comedy filled with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, pays homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
Lecturer of Acting and Director Greg Pragel said, "My idea and concept for the whole show was for people to feel like they are at a Universal Studios stunt show."
The production, consisting of 25 cast members, will showcase numerous major fight scenes that make use of the entire theatre space, over 20 puppeteered and costume character monsters, and elements of magic never seen in other UW-Stevens Point productions, with Pragel adding, "You might even see a dragon."
The show's music will feature 90's hits from Beck and Smashing Pumpkins to MC Hammer and Madonna.
"We're putting everything we have, as a team effort, into this production. From all the props, puppets, and costumes (and monsters) in the show, to the lights and sounds throughout the space, to the set design, stage management, deck crew, and designers, the actors and performances, the fights - it's all for the excitement of the adventure that the characters and our audiences will go on." said Pragel.
Whether you are a player and fan of Dungeons & Dragons or you know nothing at all, Pragel said, "You can't miss this one. Trust me, you'll have fun."
