ST. PAUL, MN - Saint Paul Mayor Kaohly Her took the oath of office and participated in a public ceremonial inauguration this afternoon. Mayor Her is the first woman and the first Asian American to hold this position.
Mayor Her released the following statement after the inaugural ceremonies:
"It is my honor to serve as the 56th mayor of the great city of Saint Paul. We have great opportunities ahead of us to build a better Saint Paul, which is more resilient and prosperous for all.
I made this commitment to you on Election Night, and I hope in the two months since you've seen it to be true: I will always show up. We're a large city, but a small community. Being connected matters. Knowing what's going on in every corner of the city matters - it's how I can best fight for you as your mayor."
Mayor Her will share an initial list of appointments and staffing structure on Monday morning as she enters her first week in office.
The public is invited to attend an Inaugural Celebration on Friday, January 30th, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Interested members of the public can reserve their place at the party here.
