Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus M.Ryzhenkov meets Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran

On December 15, 2025 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, who is on an official visit to Minsk.

During the talks, the state and prospects of development of Belarusian-Iranian cooperation in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific, technical and other spheres were discussed.

A schedule of political contacts for 2026 has been agreed.

The desire to continue and strengthen cooperation in the international arena, which has traditionally been constructive, was confirmed.

The issues of expanding the legal framework were considered in detail, a long-term program of inter-ministerial cooperation for 2026-2030 was signed, as well as declarations on cooperation in the field of international law and international relations.

The Declaration of the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the guiding Principles on countering unilateral coercive measures and ways to mitigate and eliminate their negative consequences proclaims the principles of non-recognition and non-enforcement of extraterritorial sanctions, ensuring the immunity of State property, protecting the assets of individuals and legal entities, and liability of plaintiffs for damages.

The Declaration of the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran on strengthening the Role of International Law in international Relations was developed in order to confirm the commitment of Belarus and Iran to the UN Charter and the rule of international law. The document condemns the politicization of international justice and the practice of "double standards" and provides for cooperation in promoting fair representation in international bodies.

The cooperation Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran (2026-2030) establishes a long-term basis for comprehensive and integrated interaction between the two ministries to ensure consistency of foreign policy approaches and strengthen strategic stability, as well as the development of joint initiatives aimed at strengthening international and regional security, sustainable development, and economic complementarity.

The sides noted the need to further strengthen mutually beneficial relations for the sake of peace and security at the bilateral, regional and global levels.
