ISG to Host Three-Part Webinar Series: “Rethinking How Farm Economics Work”

Bloomington, Ill. - December 16, 2025 - Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) will host a three-part webinar series on January 6-8, 2026, covering economics for Illinois farmers.

Over the course of three days, Drs. Gary Schnitkey and Nicholas Paulson, Professors of Ag Economics at the University of Illinois, will discuss ways farmers can reframe, reevaluate and reassess key on-farm economic decisions to focus on profitability in the current economic climate.

Each webinar will be at 2:00 PM and will include a 30-minute presentation followed by a live Q&A with the presenters.

Webinar Details:

  • January 6, "Reframing Decisions Around Ag Ground Cash Rents:" Illinois farmers continue to navigate rising land costs and shifting expectations around cash rent, raising the central question: How much is too much?
  • January 7, "Reevaluating your On-Farm Investments:" Equipment costs have surged more than 30% since 2021, pushing Illinois farmers to rethink what investments truly make sense in today's tight margin environment.
  • January 8, "Reassessing Your Farm Income Mix for Stronger Secondary Revenue:" With rising costs and tighter margins, secondary income has become a reality, not a choice, for many Illinois farm families.
