Despite chilly temperatures and rain, the Alfred University, Alfred State College, and local communities came out in full force to celebrate Hot Dog Day on Saturday, April 26, bringing incredible energy and generosity to the celebration. Organizers are thrilled to announce that this year's celebration raised more than $10,000 for the event's local non-profit partners.
Families, friends, and students braved the cold for a day filled with music, games, carnival rides, wiener dog races, and, of course, plenty of hot dogs. From the bandstand to the carnival, the spirit of Hot Dog Day was alive and well.
The community showed up in a big way. The weather may have been cold, but the students, community members, and volunteers were warm with enthusiasm. Organizers are proud to support the outstanding work of Hot Dog Day's nonprofit partners, who make a meaningful difference every day.
Several Alfred University staff members suited up as hot dogs and hot dog condiments for the Hot Dog Day Parade.
The funds raised will benefit several local organizations dedicated to serving our area: Alfred Montessori School, Alfred Box of Books Library, A.E. Hook and Ladder, Alfred Station Fire Company, The Arc of Allegany-Steuben, Allegany County Mental Health Association, and the Allegany Cattaraugus Chautauqua Fund for Women.
The Hot Dog Day Committee of Alfred University and Alfred State College extends its heartfelt thanks to all volunteers and everyone who participated in Hot Dog Day this year. Their support helped make this year's Hot Dog Day a success - and offered a reminder of how powerful the Alfred community can be, no matter the weather.
