Liberty Bank Names First-Ever Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer

Today, Liberty Bank announced the appointment of Marc Sylvain as the bank's first-ever Chief AI Officer. In this role, Sylvain will lead Liberty's enterprise AI strategy and serve as the Executive Leader of the bank's new internal function - the AI Center of Excellence.

Liberty's AI Center of Excellence, first publicly introduced in June, will serve as a cross-functional leadership team responsible for identifying, prioritizing, governing and implementing AI initiatives throughout the organization. The team will ensure that all AI initiatives align with business objectives, regulatory expectations and risk standards, and it is co co-chaired by Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Miller, Chief Financial Officer Paul Young and Chief Risk Officer Troy Damboise

"AI is here, and we are embracing it," said Liberty Bank President and CEO David W. Glidden. "With the help of AI, we are finding new ways to serve our customers, support our teammates and drive growth. We are building the community bank of the future, and the future starts now."

Sylvain, of Boston, earned his MBA from Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University and his bachelor's degree from McGill University. He will report directly to Glidden.

Sylvain has worked for Liberty since 2024 as the bank's Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning & Innovation, and he's led projects like the bank's successful launch and implementation of Salesforce.

Ultimately, Sylvain has more than 20 years of banking experience and previously held a variety of positions at TD Bank.

"As Liberty's first-ever Chief AI Officer, my goal is to drive the responsible adoption of AI across the bank," Sylvain said. "We've only begun to scratch the surface. When it comes to AI, there is so much potential, and we are positioning ourselves to create meaningful change that will positively impact our customers, communities and teammates."
