MALAYSIA URGES RESTRAINT AND RENEWED DIALOGUE

IN SOUTH ASIA

Malaysia is following with growing concern the rapid escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan and stresses the need for calm and dialogue.

We urge both sides to exercise maximum restraint and restore channels of communication. However tense the moment, diplomacy remains the surest path away from crisis.

Malaysia reiterates Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's call for a full and thorough investigation into the 22 April attack in Pahalgam, with a view to bringing any remaining perpetrators to justice.

Malaysia reaffirms its support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation and meaningful dialogue between India and Pakistan.
