TRAFFIC ALERT - New Castle County - Monday, January 5, 2026
The Delaware Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect significant delays on numerous roads on Monday, January 5, 2026, as the funeral for Delaware State Police Corporal Grade One Matthew T. "Ty" Snook takes place at the University of Delaware Bob Carpenter Center in Newark.
Temporary road closures will occur during the funeral procession for Cpl/1 Snook and attendees traveling to the funeral, including I-95 south between the Route 1 interchange and Route 896 interchange. Roads around the Bob Carpenter Center should be avoided between 6:00AM and 3:00PM if possible. DelDOT will be providing traffic control at intersections and temporarily closing roads as funeral-related activities are taking place.
The Department thanks the public in advance for their understanding and patience as Delaware honors the fallen Trooper.
