8th Street Corridor Improvements: Left turns reopen at Motor City Drive Thursday

Left turns between South 8th Street and Motor City Drive will reopen Thursday afternoon.

Crews have completed installation of a 24-inch water main beneath this section of South 8th Street. The center lane closure that blocked left turns at Motor City Drive is expected to reopen by the end of the day.

Work continues to install the new water main north of this location. Over the next two weeks, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and traffic shifts in both directions of South 8th Street between Costilla Street and Motor City Drive.

During this phase of work, trucks accessing Lower Gold Camp Road are encouraged to use 21st Street to avoid tight turns in the work zone.

Access to local businesses remains open and clearly marked at all times. Motorists should plan for extra travel time, slow down and use caution in work zones.
