James Fisher, a global provider of specialist marine and shipping solutions trusted for safety and innovation at sea, has successfully completed a highly specialised ship-to-ship transfer of methanol to a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel off the coast of Angola for a major bunkering company.
The operation had strict vessel size limits, chemical cargo requirements, and challenging offshore conditions. By combining the capabilities of James Fisher's Tankships and Fendercare's STS operational expertise and fendering, the company delivered a safe, compliant, and efficient solutions in a remote environment. Central to the project was the deployment of the Sir John Fisher, one of James Fisher's modern 'Fleet of the Future' vessels. Its size, specialist tank coatings, and cargo handling systems made it uniquely suited for transfer, while Fendercare provided ship-to-ship STS expertise, fendering and transfer equipment.
Extensive preparation including vessel compatibility checks, environmental modelling and risk assessments ensured the operation was executed safely, on schedule without incident, and in full compliance with client and environmental requirements.
Krystyna Tsochlas, Head of Maritime Transport, James Fisher and Sons plc said:
