Governor Offers Reward for Information on New Hanover County Murder

Today Governor Josh Stein announced that the State of North Carolina is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Don'Tae De'Charles Nixon, age 31.

"We must use every tool at our disposal to pursue justice for victims," said Governor Josh Stein. "I urge North Carolinians who have information about this case to contact local law enforcement and help us hold Don'Tae Nixon's murderer accountable."

On December 3, 2024, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Stoney Road in Castle Hayne, where they discovered Don'Tae Nixon deceased in his vehicle from gunshot wounds. Mr. Nixon had just gotten into his vehicle to leave for work at UPS, where he was a package handler.

Anyone having information concerning this case should contact the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office at (910) 798-4260 or the State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 662-4500.
