The City of Syracuse Department of Public Works (DPW) announced the schedule transition from winter to spring operations.
During the winter months, DPW crews operate in overnight shifts to respond to snow and ice events. With the seasonal transition, crews will resume standard daytime hours and begin spring services, including street sweeping, road repairs, and yard waste collection.
"As we move into Syracuse's fifth season, Pothole and Litter reveal Season, our focus shifts from snow response to restoring and maintaining our streets and neighborhoods after a long winter," said Mayor Sharon F. Owens. "Our DPW teams have worked around the clock to keep residents safe during a long harsh winter. Now they are turning their attention to improving road conditions, cleaning our streets, and preparing for the construction season ahead."
"Our crews are ready to take on the next season of work," said Commissioner Jeremy Robinson. "Spring operations are critical to repairing winter damage and keeping our neighborhoods clean and safe."
DPW will also begin its annual yard waste collection program. Materials must be set out during the designated week for each quadrant and will be collected during the following week. Construction debris will only be collected on dates marked with an asterisk (*).
Residents are reminded to place yard waste between the sidewalk and curb, separate from their trash and recycling carts. Materials must not block sidewalks, hydrants, or catch basins.
Residents may also use the City's yard waste drop-off site at 1200 Canal Street Extension, accessible from South Midler Avenue between Interstate 690 and Erie Boulevard. The site accepts brush, branches and leaves and operates from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. (April through November only).
Residents can report potholes and request services through Cityline at 315-448-CITY (2489) or using the SYRCityline app.
