Public Information Meeting on Bridges Carrying Industrial Park Road West and Gerber Drive over Gages Brook in Tolland

7/22/2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. concerning the replacement of Bridge No. 06976 carrying Industrial Park Road West over Gages Brook and Bridge No. 06977 carrying Gerber Drive over Gages Brook in Tolland.

The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed projects. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit portal.ct.gov/DOTTolland142.

"These bridge replacements will improve the safety of the crossings for all roadway users by meeting all current design standards," said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Engineer Michelle Rame. "We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design."

Right-of-way impacts are on five abutting private properties, which will consist of temporary construction easements for construction activities including access, traffic handling, water handling, excavation, removal of the existing bridges, and grading. All other impacts are on town-owned property.

Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2027 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permits. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $3 million for Bridge No. 06976 and $4 million for Bridge No. 06977. Funding for both projects are anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
