The Cameron University Percussion Ensemble will take the stage in the University Theatre on Monday, November 24. The 7:30 p.m. concert will feature an eclectic program of contemporary music that range from groovy to primal to joyful, according to Dr. Cy Miessler, director of the ensemble.
Tickets purchased at the door are $10 for adult and $8 for senior citizens, members of the military and non-CU students. Cameron University students, faculty and staff receive one free admission with their CU I.D. Tickets can be reserved by calling the box office at 580-581-2346. Tickets can also be purchased in advance online at https://www.cameron.edu/art-music-and-theatre/events/buy-tickets. (Taxes and processing fees apply.)
The concert will open with "Repair in Progress" by Kyle Peters, a piece selected by Miessler to reflect the current renovations to the University Theatre and the Music Building. That will be followed by Miessler's "Bliss Point" and "Dance of Water" by Justin Bunting. The ensemble will then perform the second movement of Daniel Levitan's "Marimba Quartet," a standard within percussion repertoire. The concert will close with David Gillingham's "Sacrificial Rite."
Student soloists will also be featured throughout the program.
Members of the CU Percussion Ensemble are Mykayla Waller, Altus; and Alexander Cook, Chelsea Mitchell, Alyssa Price, Bellamarie Saucedo, Damein Shugard and Blaize Wright, all of Lawton.
"Please join us for a night filled with drums, melodies and even some yelling!" says Miessler.
