Recognition follows 2025 Watch List selection, highlighting Instructure's growing presence in workforce learning with Canvas Career
SALT LAKE CITY - Oct. X, 2026 - Instructure, the leading learning ecosystem and maker of Canvas LMS, today announced its selection to Training Industry's 2026 Top 20 Learning Management System (LMS) Companies list, advancing from the 2025 Watch List. The recognition comes as organizations face growing pressure to upskill and reskill employees amid changing workforce demands. Instructure continues to expand its presence in corporate learning and workforce development through Canvas Career, its skills-first, AI-powered learning platform.
"Moving from the Watch List to the Top 20 in one year is meaningful recognition of our growing presence in workforce learning," said Melissa Loble, chief learning officer at Instructure. "As job requirements evolve, organizations need to make learning a continuous part of employee development. We're building on our experience in education to help people develop skills throughout their careers."
According to Boston Consulting Group, the average half-life of skills is less than five years, and in some technology fields, it's roughly half that. Organizations also face pressure to demonstrate the value of their learning investments. Recent Instructure research conducted in partnership with HR Dive found that 69% of respondents expect learning programs to improve role readiness or skills mastery to a great or very great extent, yet only 53% say their organizations can communicate program impact using data to that same extent.
Launched in 2025, Canvas Career supports organizations delivering professional development, employee training and continuing education. The platform helps organizations deliver skills-focused learning, tailor training to workforce needs and track learner progress. It extends Instructure's learning ecosystem to businesses, associations and other organizations investing in workforce development.
"This year's Top 20 Learning Management Systems (LMS) Companies illustrate how the LMS market is evolving beyond traditional learning delivery toward more intelligent, connected and action-oriented platforms," said Jalen Banks, market research analyst at Training Industry Inc. "Leading providers are embedding AI throughout the learning lifecycle to automate workflows, deliver conversational experiences and support data-driven decision-making."
