SPARK Innovation Academy: Helping Nonprofits Power Up with Transformative Technology

Philadelphia nonprofits are at the heart of our communities. They feed families, provide job training, support youth, and deliver countless essential services. Whether they are keeping data safe or using digital tools that help them serve more people with limited resources, as technology evolves, nonprofits face new challenges.

That's where the SPARK Innovation Academy comes in.

What is SPARK Innovation Academy?

SPARK Innovation Academy, in collaboration with local university and industry experts, offers workshops and courses designed to bridge the technical divide among professionals, small business owners, and non-profits. This 9-week professional academic program is designed to help professionals strengthen their organizations through digital skills, tools, and strategies. The first cohort, in partnership with Jefferson University, will focus on transformative technology for nonprofits.

Nonprofits can participate in workshops and classes on topics like:

  • Data Visualization & Mapping: Use Excel and more advanced tools to create graphs, charts and data visualizations.
  • Value Propositions & Business Models: Learn about collaborative flow charts and causal loop tools with Miro and Figma.
  • Storytelling and Communicating Success: Using visual, audio, and AI creation tools to create images and videos for social media and other marketing platforms.
  • AI & "The Next New Thing": Discover use cases in the non-profit sector for AI.

Why it Matters?

When nonprofits are strong, communities are strong. By helping nonprofit professionals embrace technology and innovation in practical, meaningful ways, SPARK Innovation Academy ensures that more Philadelphians have access to essential services and opportunities.
