Blumenthal Statement on Trump Administration Lawsuit over Connecticut Immigration Policies

[Hartford, CT] - U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) today issued the following statement on the recent lawsuit filed by the Trump Administration against Connecticut over immigration policies, including the Trust Act:

"The Trump Administration's lawsuit against Connecticut is a baseless and wasteful misuse of federal resources that does nothing to improve public safety. Instead of pursuing real reform to address alarming, often illegal conduct by CBP and ICE, this Administration is targeting Connecticut's Trust Act, which helps law enforcement build the relationships they need to keep communities safe. This suit is about politics, not public safety, and represents a clear federal overreach into lawful state policy. I stand with Connecticut in defending our right to take measures that protect our residents and strengthen our communities."
