Próspera Brings Internet Connectivity to Roatán’s Luz y Vida Community

Roatán, Honduras, January 12,2025 - The Luz y Vida community has taken a significant step toward progress by successfully connecting to the internet through Starlink, thanks to the support of Próspera in Roatán.

The project's implementation in Luz y Vida will directly connect several households to high-speed internet service using Starlink devices, overcoming the challenges posed by the community's remote location. The equipment has been installed at three strategically located WiFi access points to extend signal coverage, ensuring effective reach across various areas of the community.

"This infrastructure allows nine areas within Luz y Vida to access the internet, promoting digital inclusion in a community that previously lacked adequate connectivity," said Erick Brimen,CEO of Próspera.

The WiFi access points provide free internet to all community members, transforming these locations into shared spaces where residents can gather and benefit from the service. Beyond improving connectivity, this initiative strengthens community bonds by creating common areas where neighbors of all ages can take advantage of online opportunities. Community members offered their homes and yards as public WiFi hotspots, fostering cooperation and mutual support, and building a sense of collective collaboration.

For students, this new access to the internet means they now have essential tools to complete their schoolwork and explore educational content online. Adults in the community can now access useful information, stay updated with current news, and monitor important topics such as environmental and political developments.
