DEC Employee Placed on Administrative Leave Following Social Media Post Investigation

The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) is aware of concerns regarding a social media post associated with an employee of Nashville Department of Emergency Communications about the assassination of Charlie Kirk and are actively investigating.

The employee involved has been relieved from her duties and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Personnel matters including investigations and disciplinary processes are conducted in accordance with established Metro, department, and Civil Service rules and policies.

Commitment to Service

The DEC does not query individuals' religious or political beliefs, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, health-insurance or financial status, when determining whether to send help to someone requesting emergency response.

DEC has a quality assurance section regularly reviewing calls for all employees at random, ensuring personnel are meeting expectations.

The department also solicits surveys via text message for quality from the public following specific calls with specific employees, to ensure we are meeting our high-performance standards.

DEC will continue to prioritize serving all of the citizens and visitors of Nashville and Davidson County, whomever they may be.
