President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador of Egypt to Armenia, Amal Afifi

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Armenia Amal Afifi on the occasion of Egypt's national holiday, Revolution Day.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan congratulated the Ambassador and the friendly people of Egypt, asking her to convey his congratulations to President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

"Throughout the thousand-year history of our two peoples, there has never been a historical chapter marked by problems between the peoples of our two countries, and this is highly commendable. It is commendable in the sense that, after gaining independence, we have continued the best traditions. Our government and authorities are interested in deepening, strengthening, and developing relations with Egypt," the President said.

The Ambassador, in turn, thanked President Khachaturyan for the reception and congratulations.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the close cooperation established between Armenia and Egypt in the political, economic, cultural, tourism, and other fields, emphasizing the importance of further expanding cooperation and developing it in new directions.

Particular importance was attached to the potential for cooperation in high technologies, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. It was noted that the exchange of experience and knowledge in these areas could serve as a basis for implementing new joint innovative projects and developing new technological solutions, taking into account the fact that an Artificial Intelligence Factory was opened in Armenia just days ago.

The sides also emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in education and science, highlighting the need to expand academic and educational programs, as well as exchanges involving students, young professionals, and scientists.

The effective cooperation established between Armenia and Egypt on international platforms was highly appreciated. It was noted that cooperation based on mutual trust is important both for advancing the interests of the two countries and for further developing bilateral relations.

The importance of high-level reciprocal visits was emphasized, as they provide additional impetus to political dialogue and contribute to the expansion of economic, business, cultural, and tourism ties.

The meeting also addressed the upcoming 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP17), to be held in Armenia in October. The President emphasized his expectation of high-level participation by Egypt, noting that the conference could also create new opportunities for deepening cooperation between Armenia and Egypt on the climate agenda, sustainable development, green technologies, and innovation.
