RELEASE: Congresswoman Friedman Tours Wesley Health Center Following Concerns About Medicaid Cuts

LOS ANGELES, CA - Today, August 6, 2025, Representative Laura Friedman (CA-30), toured the Wesley Health Center and spoke with the clinic's healthcare providers and leadership. This marks the 1st stop of Rep. Friedman's "Neighborhood Healthcare Tour", highlighting just how devastating Republican cuts to Medicaid will be on local healthcare providers and families searching for affordable care.

"Republicans ought to tour clinics in their own districts, look healthcare providers and patients in the eye, and say that they're at peace with their vote to cut $1 trillion in critical healthcare - all to give over $1 trillion in tax breaks to the rich," said Representative Friedman (CA-30). "I and all House Democrats are fighting to protect Medicaid and expand affordable healthcare. Republicans are only interested in ripping it away from the people that need it most."

Clinics like Wesley Health Center provide affordable and accessible care for patients, including critical preventative care that helps save patients money by detecting and treating diseases and ailments before they become harmful or expensive to treat. Those preventative services also help ease the load on hospitals and emergency rooms.

Congresswoman Friedman is in constant contact with local clinics and healthcare providers in CA-30, including two visits to Saban Community Clinic's Beverly Health Center and one to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and an upcoming visit to Kaiser Permanente in East Hollywood. She rallied with Saban Community Clinic in late May to sound the alarm on cuts to Medicaid and the impacts it would have on providers like Saban Clinics, and announced a dedicated Medi-Cal Specialist in her office, who can help answer constituent questions about their benefits.
