Statement on SUNY Board of Trustees' Leadership of Nassau Community College

NYSUT President Melinda Person released the following statement in support of the SUNY Trustees' resolution on proposed presidential appointment by the Nassau Community College Board of Trustees.

"The Board of Trustees' decision today is a responsible and necessary step toward restoring stability and confidence in Nassau Community College leadership. Visionary, sustainable leadership cannot be built on prolonged interim arrangements.

Students, faculty, and staff deserve a president who is chosen through an open process that reflects the voices of the people who learn and work on this campus every day.

A thorough search rooted in shared governance and campus input will help Nassau Community College fulfill its true potential, rebuild trust and refocus on its core mission."
