Healthgrades recognizes Brandon Hospital with dozens of awards and recognitions

HCA Florida Brandon Hospital announced today that it has achieved numerous distinctions for exceptional clinical performance from Healthgrades, the #1 site Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital.

Among Brandon Hospital's recognitions are 25 Excellence Awards, Rankings and Ratings, placing the hospital among the top 5% nationwide for orthopedic services, spine surgery, gastrointestinal services, gastrointestinal surgery and surgical care and among the top 10% in the nation for critical care. For the third year in a row, Brandon Hospital is named in America's 50 Best Hospitals for Surgical Care. The hospital also earned five-star ratings for 13 services, including pacemaker procedures, hip fracture treatment, spinal fusion and back surgery, and the treatment of stroke, pneumonia, carotid procedures, upper gastrointestinal surgeries, bowel obstruction, gallbladder removal, sepsis, respiratory failure and diabetic hospitalizations.

In addition to these national honors, HCA Florida Brandon Hospital was ranked among the top three hospitals in Florida for gastrointestinal surgery. These achievements further affirm Brandon Hospital's standing as a premier destination for specialty care and highlight the organization's ongoing commitment to exceptional outcomes, innovation and patient-centered care.

"These awards reflect the incredible dedication and skill of our caregivers," said Christine Van Cott, MD, chief medical officer at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital. "Every recognition represents the compassion, expertise and teamwork our physicians, nurses and colleagues bring to the bedside every day. At Brandon Hospital, we are deeply proud to serve our growing community and to deliver the highest quality care that changes outcomes and saves lives. Our continued focus on quality improvement, evidence-based practices and collaboration across specialties ensures that every patient receives the best care possible, right here close to home."

Brandon Hospital's achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. Each year, Healthgrades evaluates risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top hospitals in key specialty areas. Through easy-to-understand, objective measures of hospital performance, Healthgrades empowers patients with the information they need to find a hospital that excels in their procedure or condition.

As performance gaps persist between the nation's highest- and lowest-achieving facilities, seeking care at a top program has never been more important. Healthgrades' 2026 analysis revealed that if all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to five-star hospitals during the 2022-2024 study period, on average, 230,466 lives could have been saved and 156,797 complications could have been avoided.*

"Healthgrades' specialty awards identify the nation's top-performing hospitals in key service areas, helping consumers find high quality care tailored to their specific needs," said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. "We're proud to recognize Brandon Hospital for its consistently superior outcomes in key service areas, including cardiac, orthopedic and vascular services."
