Dive Into the World of Marine Science This Summer at Stony Brook Southampton

Stony Brook University's marine science degree programs in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) are ranked among the best in the nation.

This summer, Stony Brook Southampton is offering college-credit courses in Oceanography (July 7-20), Shark Biology and Conservation (July 21-31), and Life in Our Ocean (August 3-14), including rare opportunities to conduct research aboard vessels in Shinnecock Bay and study marine life at the Stony Brook Southampton Marine Sciences Center.

Programs are open to high school students, college students and adult learners.

These intensive 100-level courses at Stony Brook Southampton are perfect for motivated high school students (ages 16 and up) who have completed high school biology and want to earn college credit, as well as for current undergraduates, graduates and professionals seeking to expand their knowledge. The two-week courses offer a unique opportunity to learn from experts while engaging in hands-on activities at our waterfront Southampton campus.

Classes meet for 4 to 5.5 hours each weekday for two weeks, providing an immersive learning environment. Each of the courses fulfills the SNW Stony Brook University educational diversity categories. Optional housing is available for students; to live on the Southampton campus, attendees must be 17 or older.
