Myanmar Deputy Minister Appointed to ERIA Governing Board

Jakarta, 13 January 2026 : The Republic of the Union of Myanmar has appointed H.E. Mr Thant Sin Lwin, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, as a member of the ERIA Governing Board.

In addition to his Governing Board appointment, H.E. Mr Lwin serves as Leader of Myanmar's High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI). He brings extensive experience in public administration and investment policy, having previously held senior positions including Deputy Permanent Secretary and Director-General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA). He also served as Secretary of the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC).

Earlier in his career, Mr Lwin was Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Union Minister, where he worked on planning and development issues within the Ministry of National Planning, and served as a Director in the same ministry. His professional background reflects a strong commitment to advancing Myanmar's economic development and supporting regional co-operation.

Mr Lwin holds a Master of Development Studies from Yangon University of Economics and a Bachelor's degree in History from Yangon University.

The ERIA Governing Board is the Institute's principal decision-making body and comprises the ASEAN Secretary-General and representatives from 16 countries. ERIA looks forward to working closely with H.E. Mr Thant Sin Lwin in advancing its mission to promote deeper economic integration in ASEAN and East Asia.
