PASADENA, Calif - The City of Pasadena Planning Department is launching a comprehensive community outreach and engagement effort to support the development of the City's first Environmental Justice (EJ) Element Program. This program will identify and address environmental burdens and inequities in Pasadena, while elevating community priorities. The process will ensure that residents most impacted by environmental and health disparities have a central role in shaping policies, programs, and investments that affect their daily lives. The program will also advance the City of Pasadena's commitment to equity, public health, and environmental sustainability, and comply with California Senate Bill 1000 (SB-1000).
The EJ Element will include data analysis, community input, and policy development focused on key environmental justice topics, such as:
To ensure broad and inclusive participation, the City will host bilingual community engagement activities, including pop-up events, community workshops, youth meetings, and surveys. Engagement efforts will be designed to reach residents across all Pasadena neighborhoods, with intentional focus on communities most impacted by environmental burdens.
The City will launch its EJ program at Pasadena's Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at La Pintoresca Park. Visit the EJ booth to meet the team, learn about the program, and share early feedback.
The City invites the community to respond to a survey for this program. Residents interested in providing input can complete the survey online at bit.ly/Ejpasadena or in person at the event booth. Submit all survey responses by July 31 , 2026.
