Marquette Nursing awarded grant to develop micro-credential course

The Higher Education Regional Alliance has awarded the College of Nursing $34,650 to develop a workforce-focused micro-credential, "Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project for Quality and Equity - Hospital Outcomes Analytics for Nurses and Quality Teams."

HERA issued the grant to expand high-impact, industry-aligned educational programs throughout the region.

The project team is led by Dr. Maharaj Singh, research professor, and includes Dr. Jacqueline Christianson, assistant professor; Dr. Lisa Grabert, visiting professor of research and Dr. Henry Duah, assistant professor.

The first edition of their course, which is designed to equip health care professionals with skills to interpret hospital outcome analytics, will be offered in an online modality over an eight-week period from June to August this summer. There is no cost for participants to take the course.

Although the first course this summer is currently at capacity, Singh says they plan to offer it again in future semesters.
