NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy visits the Republic of Moldova

On 8-10 December 2025, NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Boris Ruge, visited the Republic of Moldova.

The Assistant Secretary General met Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and other key officials to discuss the long-standing partnership between the Alliance and Moldova, including opportunities to further strengthen political dialogue and practical cooperation, based on the national requirements and in full respect of Moldova's neutrality.

Ambassador Ruge thanked Moldova for its commitment to regional security and its participation in NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo, saying: "We appreciate the contribution of the Moldovan servicemen and women serving in KFOR."

During the visit, Ambassador Ruge and Minister of Defence Anatolie Nosatii attended a handover ceremony of NATO assistance under the Defence Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI). The assistance delivery included protective gear, vehicles, medical training and IT equipment.

The support delivered under DCBI is a concrete example of NATO's continued commitment to enhancing Moldova's defence capacity and resilience. NATO will continue to partner with Moldova through political dialogue and practical cooperation as it reforms on its European integration path.
