WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced today that two Community Project Funding requests totaling over $700,000 for Indiana's Ninth District have advanced through the House Appropriations Committee after previously passing the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee.

The projects would support law enforcement operations and emergency communications infrastructure in Southern Indiana communities.

Houchin. "Whether it's combating drug trafficking and online exploitation or improving emergency communications and response, these investments support the safety and security of Southern Indiana families."

The following projects were included:

  • $614,000 for Washington County 9-1-1.The Emergency Radio Communications Critical Improvements project would fund technology upgrades on two existing radio towers and improve radio programming for emergency services.
  • $110,000 for the City of North Vernon Police Department. The Digital Undercover Exploitation and Narcotics Interdiction Initiative would support the North Vernon Police Department's efforts to expand investigations targeting narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, and online child exploitation.
