Western Regional Police Command Visits Golden Star Wassa Mine

On 3 March 2026, the Western Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Frank Abrokwa, paid a working visit to Golden Star Wassa Limited (GSWL) to engage with the company's leadership on security and its related matters.

The visit formed part of the Command's ongoing engagement with key stakeholders in the region, following the recent appointment of DCOP Abrokwa as Western Regional Police Commander.

The Police delegation was received on site by Mr. Gerard Boakye Deputy Director and Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. George Kosi Nutor General Manager and Mr. Edmund Thorne Director of Operations. During the meeting, Golden Star Wassa and the Police Command discussed matters of mutual interest, including collaboration on security and ways the police can support the company's operations as a major stakeholder in the region.

Mr. Gerard Boakye noted that partnerships with state institutions remain essential to responsible mining.

Both parties also agreed that joint police-community engagement initiative would help strengthen relations between Golden Star Wassa, its host communities, and the police, while promoting law and order.

The visit concluded with a tour of the mine's operations.
