Sen. Kenya Wicks Announces Nomination to Serve on National Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force

ATLANTA (October 23, 2026) - Sen. Kenya Wicks (D-Fayette), member of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Military and Homeland Security, has been nominated to serve on the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force.

The nomination was extended by Senate President Pro Tempore Larry Walker, III (R-Perry), who cited Sen. Wicks' 30-year military career and membership in various veterans' organizations as qualifications that would make her a valuable representative for Georgia on the nationwide task force.

"I'm honored to receive this nomination from President Pro Tempore Walker and have the opportunity to represent Georgia's service members, veterans and their families on a national stage," said Sen. Wicks. "After 30 years of service in the United States Army, I know firsthand the sacrifices made by those who serve our country. I'm ready to collaborate with legislators across the country to address the challenges facing our military communities and ensure that our veterans, their families and the men and women still in uniform receive the support they deserve for years to come."

The NCSL Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force brings together lawmakers from across the nation to examine issues affecting the needs and well-being of military personnel, veterans and their families. Its work focuses on strengthening military-community partnerships, improving access to mental health and substance abuse support, and addressing benefits for military personnel, veterans and their dependents.

Founded in 1975, NCSL represents state legislators and legislative staff across the nation's 50 states, commonwealths, territories and the District of Columbia. The organization supports state legislatures by encouraging collaboration and information sharing, and by promoting effective legislative institutions nationwide.
