At about 7:10 p.m. on Jan. 3, the Columbia Police officers responded to an active assailant call at the 200 block of North Stadium Boulevard. Initial investigations suggest that shots were fired during the incident before a vehicle was stolen and fled the area.
With the assistance of Flock Safety cameras and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the stolen vehicle was found, and a person of interest is in custody. We believe there's no threat to the public at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The Columbia Police Department would like to thank Missouri State Highway Patrol, Columbia Fire Department and Boone County Sheriff's Office for their assistance. We would also like to thank the businesses in the area for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652. To provide information without leaving your name or number, call CrimeStoppers at 573.875.8477 or visit http://www.p3tips.com/899.
