ATLANTA - State Representative Jaclyn Form (R-Tifton) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms.
"Not only is agriculture the lifeblood of the communities in the district I serve, my family has been farming some of the same land for over six generations," said Rep. Ford. "Coming from a background rooted in farming and agribusiness, I am honored to serve on this study committee and understand that sustaining the family farm is vital to sustaining rural communities."
Created by Senate Resolution 800, the Joint Study Committee on the Generational Sustainability of Family Farms will evaluate the challenges facing family farms. The study committee will also explore policies and investments that the General Assembly can pursue to support existing markets, develop new and innovative domestic markets, decrease the cost of inputs, adequately prepare the next generation of farmers and address systemic challenges contributing to the declining farm economy.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Angie O'Steen (R-Ambrose), David Huddleston (R-Roopville) and Robert Dickey (R-Musella).
